James Madison's Montpelier
12.2003
In November of 2003, Montpelier began a massive restoration project that will return the plantation house to the home that James and Dolley Madison knew in the 1820's. During this restoration, the Education Center will serve as the primary exhibit space.
Private Places, Public Spaces is two separate room recreations. One depicts an 1824 dinner honoring the Marquis de Lafayette, the other Dolley's private bed chamber.
Distinctive features include the scrim walls which allow views into adjoining rooms, and the archways framing the title graphics for the exhibit.
